Brief Introduction of TUTE
Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE), founded in 1979，is the first normal universities focusing on cultivating teachers for vocational schools in China. TUTE sticks to the educational philosophy of “Hand and Mind, All-round Development”. It has cultivated high-quality vocational teachers and application-oriented senior professionals. TUTE built first-class undergraduate education, and won one national special prize for teaching achievements and two first prizes for national teaching achievements. To deepen the reform, innovate the model, form a full-level vocational education teacher training system of bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctoral degree, and cultivate the first batch of "double-qualified" undergraduate, master's degree and doctor's degree in China. TUTE is co-constructed by the Ministry of Education and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government.
TUTE started to enroll international students since 1993. It has long been qualified to recruit students under various scholarship programs，including Chinese Government Scholarship，International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship and Tianjin Government Scholarship Foreign Students. The scale of international students has expanded continuously since 2003. TUTE enrolls nearly 1,000 international students from more than 70 countries for both short-term and long-term study yearly. Currently there are undergraduates and postgraduates from more than 32 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa are studying at TUTE.
TUTE has more than 18,000 full-time students at the levels of undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD in 7 disciplines of engineering, education, science, management science, economics, literature and art，with 51 undergraduate programs.There are 10 master's degree programs in academic first-level disciplines, 9 professional master's degree categories, and 1 doctoral training program to serve the special needs of the country. In addition, TUTE owns some research organizations, such as World Skills Competition China Research Center, Center of African Union Studies and International Education Aid Centre of Ministry of Education etc.
The transportation around TUTE is very convenient, with bus stations, subway stations around. It takes 30 minutes from TUTE to Tianjin Railway Station, or Tianjin West Railway Station by subway or bus, and 20 minutes to Tianjin Binhai Airport by taxi. Also, it only takes 30 minutes by intercity between Tianjin and Beijing, the capital of China.
Criteria & Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health.
2. Educational background and age limit:
- Applicants for undergraduate programme must have senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 25, and applicants for Tianjin Government Scholarship should be under the age of 30.
- Applicants for master’s degree programme must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
- Applicants for doctoral degree programme must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
- Applicants for Chinese language training programme must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35. Chinese language is the only available subject.
3. For applicants of Chinese-teaching program, their Chinese proficiency must reach level 4 under Chinese Language Proficiency Scales For Speakers of Other Languages.
4. Applicants of English-teaching program should be from countries using English as their official or mother language, or major in English, or have such English proficiency as 5.5 and above under IELTS or 80 and above under TOEFL.
Application Time
The applicants send the application materials to the International College of Tianjin University of Technology and Education. The application time is generally from March 1st to June 30th（The specific deadline is determined according to the scholarship funding institutions and enrollment situation of the year without prior notice）.
Application Documents
Only scanning copy of below documents are needed if there is no extra statement. All documents should be filled or manifested in Chinese or English. An notarized copy of Chinese or English translations must be submitted for documents in other languages.
- Application form for study in China.
- Notarized highest diploma.
- Notarized Academic transcripts of highest education.
- Certificates of language proficiency.
- Study or research plan that no less than 800 words.
- Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors for master’s and doctoral degree applicants.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Download from http://www.csc.edu.cn/Laihua), and Blood Test Report. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records, those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take medical examination as it is valid for only 6 months.

Note: Students who apply for self-funded international students with excellent qualifications will be recommended by TUTE to be awarded the Tianjin Government Scholarship for Foreign Students.
Admission and Notice
TUTE will send Admission Notice to the applicants before August 30th. The applicants could download Visa Application for Study in China (JW201 or JW202) from "study in China" "Visa Application" on the homepage (https://www.studyinchina.edu.cn) and apply for visa from China Embassy with these documents.
Facilities on and off Campus
The apartment building is surrounded by trees and grass, and is easy to access the playground where students can play basketball, football, tennis, and so on. There is a service zone for students on the campus, including canteen, barbershop, etc. There are several large supermarkets nearby. It is very convenient to take Tianjin Metro to the downtown. There are also a lot of public buses to the downtown. The university is developing from day to day and the service facility is becoming increasingly better.
