2024 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Undergraduate Program includes Chinese Language+M/A Engineering Program

For the purpose of satisfying the growing demand of the international community for Chinese language teachers and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries. the Center For Language Education And Cooperation (CLEC) will continue with the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language (education) departments of foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language instruction of other countries, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad (collectively “recommending institutions”) may recommend outstanding students and currently-employed Chinese language teachers to study International Chinese Language Education or related majors in Chinese universities and colleges (“host institutions”).

Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE), as one of the Host Institutions, welcomes applicants all over the world to study at TUTE.

Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE), founded in 1979，is one of the first normal universities focusing on cultivating teachers for vocational schools in China. TUTE sticks to the educational philosophy of “Hand and Mind, All-round Development”. It has cultivated high-quality vocational teachers and application-oriented senior professionals. TUTE built first-class undergraduate and graduate education, and won one national special prize for teaching achievements and two first prizes for national teaching achievements. To deepen the reform, innovate the model, form a full-level vocational education teacher training system of bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctoral degree, and cultivate the first batch of "double-qualified" undergraduate, master's degree and doctor's degree in China. TUTE is co-constructed by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and Tianjin Municipal Government 

TUTE and Center for Language Education and Cooperation jointly established TUTE International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship in 2019. 2024 TUTE plans to recruit Chinese Language + Machine Design, Manufacturing & Automation，and the duration of schooling of this program is 4 years and the teaching language is Chinese. TUTE warmly welcomes those having interest in mechanical and automotive engineering and good Chinese proficiency.

1. Eligibility

All applicants shall be:

l Non-Chinese citizens;

l Friendly to China, no criminal record, abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the university

l In good physical and mental condition, and with good academic performance and conduct;

l Between the ages of 16-35 until September 1st, 2024. Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45, while undergraduate student applicants shall not be over 25.

2. Scholarship types and qualifications

Chinese Language + Machine Design, Manufacturing & Automation，Scholarship of Bachelor’s Degree

The program commences in September 2024 and provides scholarship for a maximum of four academic years. Applicant shall hold a senior high school diploma and a minimum score of 180 on the HSK Test (Level 4).  

3. Accommodation

The university provides scholarship holders with free dormitory rooms, usually with double or single rooms equipped with bathroom, furniture, bedding, air conditioner and so on.

4. Academic assessment

The Bachelor scholarship holders are required to attend the Annual Review, only those having outstanding performance in academic and meeting Chinese language proficiency requirements are entitled to a full scholarship for the following year.

5. Application materials

● A scanned copy of the passport photo page;

● A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK/HSKK tests (within the two-year validity);

● A reference letter by the head of the Recommending Institution.

● Highest diploma (notarial photocopy): Applicants shall provide proof of highest diploma. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarial translations in Chinese or English.

● Academic transcripts (notarial photocopy): Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

Besides the documents required by CLEC, applicants are also required to submit the following application documents truly, correctly and completely:

● Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (the original copy should be kept by the applicant), and the original Blood Test Report:

The form printed by Chinese quarantine authority could be downloaded from /, and should be filled in Chinese or English language. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records, those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take medical examination as it is valid for only 6 months.

● Certificate of Non-Criminal Record

Notes：Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form and Certificate of Non-Criminal Records should be uploaded to “Basic Information-Upload Passport First Page” together with your scanned copy of passport as a zip file.

6. Admission procedures

Please log on official website of Center for Language Education and Cooperation (cis.chinese.cn), register and select International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship of Partner Universities, fill in recommending organization and then select Chinese language + vocational technical training. Select Machine design, manufacturing & automation as a major. Select Tianjin University of Technology and Education and submit application materials online. Please pay attention to the application progress, feedback of review and scholarship evaluation results.
